For blue actinic light, since it is use for visual pleasure and not so much for corals, do u think its still practical to get blue PL light?
wouldnt a simple FL blue light do the trick to get the effect?
confused.....

To me, thats how i feel. Don't think you need very strong blue light since the white bulb would already contain some blue colour in its spectrum.

Blue light is good 4 coraline algae growth.

Actinic light have light spectrum that peaks at 420nm which causes the coral pigments to glow. Normal blue lights do not have this capability so you will see blue lights but no glow from corals.

so wats the time schedule we should have for white light and actinic lights? 8hrs white in the day and another 8 hrs at nite during sleeping?

No fixed schedule i guess more or less up to the individual, but usually what we do is on the white lights for 8-12hrs a day. We can also on the actinic blue during this time.
We can switch on the actinic blue 30mins-1hr prior to the white lights coming on to simulate dawn and 30mins-1hr after the white lights go off to simulate dusk.

Not sure, but if they have, by all means you can buy just make sure its suitable for your holder as its unlikely that lighting shops would sell light hoods for aquarium use.

ok i have a question here.
a 15watts Reef Sun 50/50 (made in germany) states "50/50 combination of 6500K trichromatic daylight phosphor and actinic 420 phosphor in the same lamp"
Does this mean if I use 2 of these I do not need to use a seperate actinic tube to promote coraline algae growth? currently I am using one of this for my nano tank and I have noticed some coraline algae growth on my tank walls recently so this might mean that reef sun 50/50 does indeed have actinic 420nm spectrum in them???
I intend to use them for a 2ft tank that holds mainly soft corals and a lobster. Might try to sneak in a boxer shrimp to test if they can survive with the lobster heh...

Coralline algae does not require actinic light to grow but they tend to grow better with dimmer lights. Keeping the Calcium, kH and magnesium in the higher range will promote coralline algae growth.
