Hi Everyone,

Need some advise about the above mentioned chiller. Thinking of getting one but worry about the noise and the performance? If anyone of you using above chiller would appreciate if you can share the experiences of the chiller with us?

Some concern are:-
1) Is it noisy?
2) Does it come with 1 year warranty?
3) How is the peformance to chiller 5ft x 2ft x 2.5ft at 30'C?
4) Will it generate a lot of heat?

Appreciate on your reply......

i think u should get a bigger chiller .. cl650 is a 1/4hp chiller might not be enuff for a 5foot tank ...
1)noise lever is tolerable no problem at all.
2)warranty depends on where/whick LFS u buy it from
3)as stated above might not be enuff
4)all chiller generate heat ... depends where u place it .. good ventilated places u wont notice the heat .... the chiller itsself is not hot coz of plastic casing.

There was once at lfs, I met someone who just bought CL650. He complains that it generated a lot of heat until he cannot stand it. He says ?ikan sekuk, orang panis? ?fish cold, people hot?

He was at lfs to find an external powerhead strong enough to pump water from the sump to the chiller (which he intends to move outside his house) and pump back.

I later found out at 1 lfs using cl650, yes it generates heat about 1.5 ft away u can feel it.

However, at other lfs, same cl650, the heat was less felt. I think it is because it was brand new, and he places it in better-ventilated environment.

I personally feel, noise is bearable, constant maintenance to the air vents will help prolong life of the chiller and reduce noise plus save cost. Cost is save as air vent clean before it is block, (the chiller works more to get more air and if not maintain damage (Long term) the chiller.

Overall, cheaper than most chillers, serves it purpose.

But 5ft may be at lot of water for CL650 to chill and y 30 degree?
30 degrees is ur target use fan, chiller can go much lower.

Hi Slcw,

Just find out from internet that CL 650 can support up to 800 liter of water.

And my tank 5ft x 2ft x 2.5ft = 750.00 liter of water.

Guess is no problem lah...

800L is at 0 heat load, if you got eheim submerged pumps or strong lightings.. it would not be enough

1) noise-depends on the individual n your hse.
2) majority of LFS will give 1 yr but there is 1 i know will give a 1 2 1 exchange 4 defective chillers within a yr.
3) it will definitely overwork
4) all chillers will produce heat.

tell u my experience..
i sold off my 650 barely 2 wks old n make a lost of $200 :( :( :(

anyway, wat's ur budget??
