i'm having trouble feeding my bettas. they won't accept any food besides chopped up pieces of fresh shrimp. i've tried hikari pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms and flake foods. any solutions to this?

thanks

Hi Infiniti,

I think that it's a matter of them getting used to different varied diets. If they've been fed shrimp for a while they'll be stubborn when it comes to introducing new foods.
So if you intend to feed your bettas say, frozen bloodworms, let them go hungry for a while, a day without their shrimp. Introduce the bloodworms slowly, let them have a bit at a time till they take to it. Normally I find pellets the hardest to get them to eat.

adding to rob's suggestion, one day not enuf, then make it 2 days. if still cannot then 3, 4, 5 days... am confident they will learn to take newly introduced foods.

for me flake was the hardest. it took my fishes almost 3 days to adjust to it. probably their mouth is not structured to take flattened foods. initially a bit clumpsy but later OK.
