u may 1 2 look into my gallery.
most reefers would prefer tunze 2 scwd. i prefer scwd as it can simulate the type of current favourable 2 corals. moreover, i can play ard wif my loc line 2 where the current can direct.

just as i thought...devilfire will be the 1st to reply:p saw your gallery quite number of time. it gave me an idea for setting up my tank. i chose scwd bcos i dont intend to have any more pumps in the main tank. you're using 6000l/h pump if i not wrong. how the performance of the scwd? gave you any problem so far? btw, why did you modify the scwd?

same sentiments... i didnt 1 2 hav any pump in my main tk b cos
1) ugly
2) extra heat generated
3) extra power pt
4) extra electricity
5) cannot b as flexible as scwd

my return pump is rated at 6500l/h.

no problem wif the scwd so far. FYI, the alternating takes place every 7 sec oni.

u hav 2 sand paper the end of the 3 tubes 2 make it even so tat it can fix into the pvc pipings uniformly. unless u 1 2 use flexible hoses n clamps which r not advisable. u will understand once u physically look at the item.sounds simple?? not many ppl know how 2 do it.

wow, i'm very impressed... u did ur homework b 4 u purchase.
so when u purchase the PVC pipes, take note there r 2 types of 20mm dia. 1 is thicker n the other is smaller. u hav 2 get the former.

i dun really know how 2 explain but the end of the tube of the SCWD hav a "ring". it's tis ring tat will not fit into the PVC pipe. so u hav 2 file or sand away tis ring in order 2 get it fit uniformly.

is the plastic clips strong enough 2 hold the pressure? i'm engineer trained so i dun really trust plastic clips. imagine if the clips 1 day give way n ur head will oso give way. if u use metal clamps oso not advisable.

if u need help u can approach me. i'll b very willing 2.

BTW, where u stay??

btw the changing of current will determind how strong your pump is..
i though 6000l/hr is too strong for scwd?
i read that dont know how many Gallon and above cant use..

im interested in getting 2 u-tubes and a maxijet 1200
but not sure if the voltage for the maxijet there can be use for local.

nim75sg
17-05-2004, 05:35 PM
The voltage for the maxijet is 110VAC 60Hz and not suitable for our use unless you buy a auto-switching voltage converter ie step-down from 240VAC to 110VAC.

For shipment cost, will revert after compiling all orders b4 with MarineDepot can confirm the actual shipment cost.

bro ReDDeviLs,

I read in some of the Tunze materials that their pumps are not pressure-rated, which is partially why they're so highly efficient for such low power consumption. When you drive a SCWD with a Tunze 6060 (or 6080), do you notice any problems?

im using swcd + a 6000l/hr tunze..

is the converter useable? heard from SRC users that its not reliable and might not be able to use,i was asking abt the red sea wavemaker at that side..
locally its selling like 300+ at the states only 100+ only..

Jeffrey: It is always cheaper to buy from overseas, eg my Deltec MCE 600 was only S$600 inclusive of shipping charges.

Devilfire: Thanks for the advice. Didn't encounter any problems ordering from overseas as I had been that road many times already. Even purchased a Diatom Filter (operates at 110VAC 60Hz) for polishing my tanks by using a autoswitching step-down voltage converter from Sim Lim Tower.
