Hi to all, my lh's eye is swollen and due to this he wouldnt eat at all!!!! Can any expert pls help. This has been one week liao and his eye still wouldnt heal

Antibiotics provided by GP - how long aredy? How about salt & heater? :)

Bro chance very slim but u can try increase the temp to 32'c to 34'c and gave the antibiotics.Change water 1/4 every day before u put the antibiotics for 5-7days.Good Luck.

Bro isa, I think 30deg shud be fine ..... :)

Bro sinner, if u have tried the antibiotics for 1week aredy and still no improvements, can change to Melafix instead. Please remember not to mix medication at once into the tank cause it'll stressed out the fish and can be very fatal. Daily partial water change is very good ... :)

Pop eye is due to internal bacteria, it is normal for fish suffering such problem not to eat. Dun worry, concentrate on curing the fish first. :)

when i was treating my LH for internal bacteria infection, it didn't eat for 1 mth plus, it won't die. now it recovers, very good appetite.....eat non stop........i wonder how long they can last w/o food.
some animal can stil survive 6 mths w/o food.......

Swollen eyes will often be accompanied by clouded eye....

I wouldn't use antibiotics given by GP on fishes, it may cure them but in time the bacteria strain will be resistant to the antibiotics and this makes it even worst.

You should try melafix instead accompanied by heater set to 28degrees from then add some bubbling and let it starve for few days, no worries.

Change water daily at 10% or so keep the water clean, by a week or so should cure.....

Do not overdose melafix, overdose by triple to quarduple amounts will burn their eyes and cause further cloudy eyes....

Remember to do a 50% water change followed by carbon filtration for at least 12 hours before you start on melafix.....oh and use dechlorinated water.......good luck.

Agreed, good ideas to stock some of these useful medication. Have to b more careful with Pimafix, it is a bit strong. :)

Indeed, i halved the dosage for my LH's cloudy eye and it worked as good as mela's full dosage....

Also the smell darn strong lar, u try in air con room u have to air ur room or else kinda like ermmm.............. :p
