My Lh just die .........
It was fine before i wash my 2 tank...After washing with new sponge pad i went out .Abt 4 hours later ,return surprise to find 2 lh hang close to water surface(about to turn over).Add in extra air pump ,change 25% water .1 hours later lh begin to turn over.Siao liao :confused: :confused: :confused:
Tranfer two lh to spare tank.Abt an hour later ,One lh start to swim..Another no improvement........
Wat happened think may be the new sponge pad.Add partition to hold the
Lh up...... After 3 hour one swiming ,one stop swiming.........
So brother out there think you should wash those sponge pad (normally use for dishes washing) before it get into your tank............ :( :( :( :( :(

If sponge brand new, then i think it's ok. If it's old one, it could used by someone with soap to wash dishes then it must be the sponge.
Did you change 100% water? It could the water too.

Wow! Sponge pic also take to show us. Guess you really like that fish.
I usually use those used dirty wool/sponge from my filter which I intend to replace with brand new ones. I will wash the dirty ones, dry it and later use to scrup the tank. At the same time, it save money mah.

Sorry to hear that your beloved luohan had passed away and it is a nice fish.

This type of sponge are meant for washing kitchen utensils and I suspect that they are added with certain chemicals.

When I started keeping fishes, I used to have a 3ft tank with 8 Discuses and 4 Angelfishes, my new maid used the same type that you have used to cleand the glass.

In less than an hour, all died except one black Angelfish upside down when I came home. Very heartpain........ but then again, that was how I started luohans.

From then onwards, I used filter wool to act as a sponge to clean the tanks.

Hope that you get over the grief and recycle the tank to get ready for new fishes.

if not wrong you have to soak in the water, add anti-chlorine and put aquarium salt. Leave it for days and change the water if necessary. I use the normal 3M green wool to clean my 2 tanks and so far no problem. B4 i used it, soak in water and do as what i have mentioned above. The water i use is tank water not from tap.

There is another type of sponge, not the yellow/green type. Those soft ones, I am using them. But the idea of using filter wool is good too.

Ur new sponge is for washing dishes not for aquarium use.Next time use ur new aquarium filter wool to clean ur tank.
