How many tubes do u intend to have? 2 or 4? or more? Do you have any basic electrical knowledge?
To start u off.. these are the basic equipments u need....

1) T5 tubes - u shld be getting 2ft (24w)
2) Endcaps - waterproof or non waterproof?
3) eballasts - Elbiru? Osram?
4) Reflectors - better to have (increase efficiency)
5) Casing - can use wood like me :p
6) 3 pin plug to be connected to the eballasts
7) Toolbox

Can't really advise u much also... most of the electrical stuff were done by my dad while i try to learn.. haha

I mounted the reflectors on the wooden plank bought at Ikea

E-ballasts are mounted at the back of the plank

A closer look at the circuit...

The 2 eballasts are connected in parallel to the 3 pin plug

Endcaps are connected here.... on the other side of the eballasts.. circuit diagram is on the eballasts itself

Bro,

can advise where to buy the components for DIYing the T5 lights, like the e-ballast, endcaps, light holders etc

Thanks.

The light holders, you can just strip any suitable length aluminium FL casing and use. Alternatively, you can custom make an aluminium holder to mount the reflectors and T5 tubes. Bro Ekia has done something similar, except he used a wooden plank instead of an aluminium holder to mount his ballast, reflectors and lights.

For supplies like reflectors, endcaps, T5 eballast, you can PM bro Orgasbt. He supplies parts for lights.
