My wife found a hermit crab in her office and they thinking of keeping it , so does hermit need to stay inside water or it can stay alive without water? I saw a LFS just let it run freely on the floor.:p

2 type of hermit
Land hermit and aqua hermit. From what you describe your wife found in office, I would reckon it's a land hermit which needs minimium water else it will drown.

Yes, but I think they also need a little amount of water from time to time right? :D

I just bought two hermit crabs from a fish shop last week... Think they are land hermit ba... tat uncle dun reallly know much about them too... Although I dun know anything much about them, I still bought two of them and place them in my office... I gave them some sands and abit water to keep them moist even though they are land hermit... Tats what I read about online about them...
Can I ask what kind of food do you all usually feed them with? :p

It'll be good if you can create a wet and dry area for them, meaning a small holding area to contain some water and rest are dry land.
