How to control pH with pH controller

Hi, I am thinking of getting a pH controller to control the pH. But I do not understand how it works. Can any one please explain? Thanks.

There is a probe which measures pH of your water. you have to set your desired pH value. If the detected pH is higher, it will activate the socket which is connected to your co2 cylinder to pump in co2. when co2 dissolved in water, it will bring your pH down.

Thanks for answering. So you mean the pH controller cannot to be used for increasing pH. Me pH is ~7.7.

technically, it maybe possible. You will need to inverse the output with a relay.

Set the threshold at 8.4 and connect it to a kalkwasser reactor/pump.

Mine is a FO tank. Will read up more on kalkwasser and ask again if still blur.

Recently I have this problem too.. pH can't go up even when i dose pH buffer, because my kH too high.. :confused:

His is a different case, because mine is reef tank. :)

That why u need to mantain ur MG level to the correct level before that no matter what u dose will goes down the drain , i had this ploblem before and i keep dosing and nothing seem to works untill Barra told me to get my MG level correct before dosing others and really it works.;)

Yup.. I'm still dosing Mg.. going up to 1200ppm this morning and still climbing slowly.. :D

U can stop once u hit 1350ppm , but u need to monitor the level everyday cos it may still drop again.;) Once it settle down it will mantain at that level but u still need to check once every week just in case.:p

Keep dosing till MG is 1300-1400.
Do not go more than 1400.
Once you can maintain your MG in that range,then you can check if your KH and CA is ok.

Now i never dose MG also hit amost 1500ppm.:p

Thanks sherman and monsterz for all the advices.. will keep a close look at my Mg every 2 days (everyday too "siong" already ;) ).. most likely will take another few more days to reach about 1350ppm..

Time to go buy kH testkit liao.. :p

Does your pH goes lower in the morning and higher in the evening when the lights are on?
