Hi Kelvin,

Real impressed with the degree you are into betta breeding. Must say you have a real unique collection. I esp like your latest on the orange-red x orange. Very refreshing color indeed!

One question : How do u take such good betta pictures? My digi-camera does not seem to be able to focus at all on bettas in their glass containers. Images always blur. But big fishes like LHs and Aros no problem.
Care to enlighten?

Hi Ronald,

(1) Dont use Flash
(2) Use macro mode of camera. Normal cameras are 10 cm macro normally..Nikon ones can go up to 2 cm for the best and mine at 4 cm.
(3) Put a light source on top of the tank of fish u taking...this will make it nicer. Look at some of the pics i took. http://photos.yahoo.com/tltanus
(4) Patience. To take and take and delete and delete as these buggers dont stay still.

Cheers,
tltan

yah i learn from tltan one. so my picture has improved significantly
but sometimes you have to use flash coz it brings out the true colors.

wah titan you can take pictures very well har... is your camera the normal type or does it come with a macro lens?

nope. i dont take good pictures all the time.
haha.
My camera happens to have a very good enough macro mode. It is a nikon coolpix775 with macro mode of 4cm. no special adaptions to it. most digital cam are 10cm...so that means placing the camera 10 cm away from the subject to take.

Lights is very important on top to illuminate the subject so as to take clear pics

tltan,

Very good pics taken. Bet u have spent a lot of efforts into them as until now, I still cannot get one that is clear and presentable for my bettas. Only those taken for my LHs and Aros not bad.:p

sister

see female body got eggs behind stomach. stomach is black. egg sac is yellowish that is how i identify male/ female. this pic cannot see black/shiny stomach sometimes eggs cover the stomach.

so you note the way the shape of body of the female bloated sideway, something like elongated stomach.

finnage and white dots dun really matter in sexing. got eggs means females.
