But bro Vil, isn't that a drop tail syndrome?? When to some LFS and saw some young aros ard 4 inch oso have this problem. But the shopkeeper told me it is caused by stress due to transportation and the drop tail will go away after the aro is climatised to the new environment. Same goes for the barbels too. Any comments??

How did your aro get injured? How long ago was this "incident"? Was the observation instantaneous, after the incident?

It might just be muscular trauma and not vertebrae fracture or spinal hemorrhaging. I don't see any symptoms of "drop-tail" as the caudal is intact.

How is his swimming behavior? Any abnormalities; jerking?

You can gauge the severity of the trauma by his swimming. How is his turns? Are they awkward?

Depending on the severity, there's no treatment for fractures, as they heal on their own over time. Also keep in mind that most fractured vertebrae cases often leads to stunted growth.

hi all
sorry for the late reply

this is what happened:

I came home one day to find my aro looking a bit weird, upon closer observation, i found out that it had developed a slight arch... the middle part of the body is the top of the arch with the head and the tail part pointing downwards, a pretty unnatural sight as when the aro swam near the water surface, the only part that touched the water surface is the middle part of the body.

I was told that it might be due to a rough bump that caused the spinal muscle injury resulting in such a posture. was even told that the damage might be permanent. after a few days of uneasiness and waiting, it became better and now its back to normal! :) fully recovered!
