Hi Aromedics
I have a 11 in aro which I have kept in a used 4 x 1.8 x 1.8ft tank for a year. Have noticed this alarming problem 3-4 months ago.
The fish would have cloudy eye every now and then. I would treat it by changing 50% water, adding additional salt and increase temp to 32 degrees. I would then change 50% water every 2-3 days until the cloudiness disappears.
I have noticed that if I do not change water for more than 7-8 days, on the 9th day, the cloudy eye would recur.
In the past, when the fish was healthy, I would change 50% water every 2 weeks. I would presume that the volume of water and the amount of food given would allow me to do so.
I have a big external canister which I had cleaned 1 month ago, and the fish is fed with 3/4 or 1 medium sized market prawns daily. It would get crickets occasionally.
Recently, I had purchased 2 red parrots and put them into the tank and within 6 hours or so, they had very obvious fin/body rot(white flakes on fins & body). This is only observed on the 2 parrots and not on the aro.
Is the bacteria content so high in my tank? If so, what am I to do?
Would adding benificial bacteria help?
Experts kindly advise. I am desperate!
