please help.:( :( :( Dun worry bro. As for the small white hair line worms, just add 2 hardworking plecos into the tank to finish it. Regarding the bubbles on the surface, this is due to your water getting harder but it is OK for aro altough unsightly. Can try using a surface skimmer or the traditional method......scooping the surface out using a laddle. Pls dun add any chemicals into the water. Water cloudy might be due to the BB not developing properly. Did u meddle with the filter media recently?

guys,

thanks for helping out. i was so lost on what to do. :)

my aro is ok now. I've added another power head to help disolve more oxygen into the water. I guess when i see my aro grasping for air i was so afraid that he will suffocate to death. thank god that did not happen.

as for the worm, the tank is now cleared of them after the water change and the cleaning of my filter. will still monitor the situation.

today my aro is swimming around happily.

thanks again. :) :) :)

I might be wong but correct me if i am.

These worm come as a result of unfinished food that get stuck in the filters. I remembered that the worms appear when I meddeled around with the filter. :)

Yah, alot of these white wriggling worms live in the filter media...probably live of the waste. WHen you play with the filter wool etc, they all get stirred up.

Anyone know if this worm can cause the most feared hook worm on the Aro's anus?

I'm getting worried.:(

Look like whiteworms have infested your tank. I have same problem too. Whilst some believe it is due to uneaten food, I think it could do with filter maintenance. The main reason is we don't clean our filter often enough for fear of removing too much BB, & thus allow whiteworms to root deep into our sytem.
So to control whiteworms, other than adding plecos or other feeder fish to finish off all those whiteworms in tank, we need to clean the filter more often too. :)

white worms is caused by overfeeding and lack of regular partial water changes and should also maintain your tank, including the filter media. most importantly, should try to siphon any uneaten food.

i have encountered white worms in my tanks several times and i have tried putting aquarium salt (about 3 tablespoons) onto my ceramic rings in my filter box and the white worms have not reappeared.

try putting very small feeder fishes in the tank, they will eat the worms. my brother-in-law said it works for him.

Planaria(tank wall crawling) and nematodes(free swimming wriggling) infestations in your tanks?

Well, alot of good advises have been portrayed here, tentatively, aquarium salt over the filter media white sponge will irk these "worms" very soon and you may be surprised to see thousands wriggling soon if your tank maintenance is not rather well maintained be it regular water changes, filter media maintenance or bad overfeeding.

For overhead filtration users, to "test" for "worms", kindly switch off your filter for around 15mins, than turn it back on and observe closely the "output" section once water starts flowing back.

It's a worms life. :)

I was supposed to post the same question on these white worms that crawls at the bottom of the tank and at the sides. I noticed that there are small white worms in my tank just this day. well i turned the filter off to fiddle on my filter media. then just this afternoon i saw small worms at the bottom and sides of my tank/ got REALLY WORRIED!

well if these worms are due to unfinished food.... hmmmm. i never left any uneaten food inside my tank. i scooped them out after my aro has eaten. plus i also scoop his shit. loads of them.

i havent put any meds yet... m planning to get a pleco first thing in the morning and see what happens.
