I brought a TKL from one of the brothers here who kept a community tank. This TKL have damages caused by fights on its fins and tail. Let me discribe the damages. Tail fin 1/2 gone from top, whatever left is bended 1/4 from tip of the tail. Right pectorial fin 1/3 gone and what is left is slightly bended at tip. But, remarkably, these damages did not affect its swimming ability and it is healthy, active and eating well. I have thus adjusted the heater temperature to 32 degrees and added salt to enhance faster healing as advised by one of our brothers.

But is there any other thing I can do? Any bro can advise? Should I trim the bended part of the tail and pectorial fins so that the fins can be regenerated normally. In doing so, will the aro swiming ability be affected? Morever, can any bro advise how to trim a reluctant aro which will be expected to jump and twist out of water without causing more harm to it?. Should I just it it alone for one to two weeks perhaps and monitor its situation? Will the fins grow back normally if I leave it alone without trimming. I am very very new to aro as this is my first one. I appreciate any comments any brother can offer. Thanks.

iWould recommend that you leave the wounds (fins etc) to re-grow first. If the regeneration is not nice, then perform the operation.

You would need to apply anesthetic to knock out the aro before performing any kind of operation. , Please look it up on where to buy and how much to use. I personally have not try it before. But be very mindful about the amount you use, as it can be lethal!

Cheers
