Arrrgh....

I have a 100g tank which is now just developing red slime, just a little.

I am looking high and low for chaeto, I got the lighting and other stuff.

Anybody kind enough to direct me? Thanks!

Go to sgreefclub.com.sg and at the buy and sell forum, ask for FOC chaeto. There are a no. of helpful bros over there.
In addition, do regular W/C to control the red slime. and remove the it manually.

May I know what this chaeto does and when to use it?

Chaeto has 3 main uses:

1) It can undergo 24 hour photosynthesis if you pump him full of light, so it will compensate for the CO2 accumulation at night therefore stabilizing pH.
2) The mess of strands is a good place for copepods to thrive.
3) Chaeto takes in phosphate and nitrates and grows grows grows, keeping your water's PO4 and nitrate levels low. When you harvest the chaeto it's like throwing away nitrates and phosphates.

Chaeto has an additional advantage of being one of the rare macroalgaes of this sort which does not go sexual and pump sperm all over your tank.

However, chaeto's single strand has no wall boundaries. Once chaeto starts to die, the degradation of the cell wall will cause all the chemicals absorbed by the chaeto to spill over all over your reef tank. The more chaeto the worse. And Chaeto WILL start to die if you keep your tank clean and tidy - it simply will not have enough nutrients to survive on.
