Cannister Help
 

Hey, I was trying to put on a sponge for the inlet of my cannister filter, when i forgot to close the valve. In the end, I have problem starting up the cannister again. And now I have managed to restart it after many tries. I am wondering if it is normal for the cannister to have a small pocket of air? If not, what do I need to do now?

bring the cannister to the bathroom and put the hose into one of the valve. then on your tap and let the cannister fill up

It is working alright now. I am just wondering if there should be a thin space of air in the cannister.

That is normal for a canister.

Normally I will pump out the air. Dunno your canister have the "button" on top to pump water into the canister.

I do not have a pump button. It is actually a thin layer of air, will this affect the effectiveness of the cannister?

Air in cannister very normal esp after u wash it and going to start it, confirm got air

Its quite common to experience pocket of air after maintance.
You can prime the filter by pumping water through the intake hose with the help of a small powerhead.
What i would do is to detach the manual pump that we use to start the siphon and pump water into the cannister.

The easiest way to get rid of the air is to lift the filter and let it run on it's side with the output side facing up.

Then slowly put it back upright letting the air come out a bit at the time when you see that there is no more air pocket you can put it back on the floor/cabinet.

You can actually use this way to start your cannister too.

Try it, it actually works quite well.:)
