Does this check for chloramines as well as chlorine?

boxedfish 05-09-2012 12:55 PM

yah i am more interested in checking chloramines than chlorine..

Yes. Chloramine also important factor to be measured directly or indirectly.

Over the years, Chloramines had been known to be added into our drinking water so as to keep it safe from contaminants such as bacteria. The reason is such that Chloramines is more stable than free chlorine. It does not vapourize so easily unlike free chlorine whereby we just bubble it for a few days before we do water changing. I understands thats what most of us did in the good old days.

Even though Chloramines is more stable, that does not mean that it won't breakdown at all. It will also do so just that it takes a longer period of time when it comes contact with water and we are unsure when will that happen and how long it takes.

Once Chloramines atom is being broken up, it is this free chlorine that will harms the fish whereby ammonia will be taken care of by our biological filtration.

We will want to make sure that there is no free chlorine content in our aquarium so that our fish are safe from the harm.

Yup, but we also want to make sure that there is no chloramine content in the water. Does this Chlorine Checker also check for chloramine content? Or only chlorine?
