I know of a place which has wild guppies. There's this longkang behind the bus stop opposite Seagate. This longkang has a lot of wild guppies. I saw those guppies every time while i'm waiting for my bus. Seagate is near the Sheng Shiong at serangoon north.

Catching fishes from big longkang is dangerous. At one time I got a thought of releasing my culls into longkangs but think think if kids get to know there got quality guppies, all will cheong there to fish and that will pose a danger to them.

Looks fun.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that there is no true wild guppy in Singapore since guppies are not native to Singapore?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6093948AAEGDjk

Extract from link above:

"The guppy is named after the Rev. J.L. Guppy of Trinidad, an early collector of the species from the late 1800's. Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are placed in the family as mollies and mosquitofish.

Natural habitat

The wild, original guppy is native to Central America, as well as Trinidad and northern South America. Today, many guppies are found in Asia, especially Singapore, where many fancy strains are bred in large fish farms, and shipped to pet stores all over the world."

rnkw 03-04-2012 09:27 AM

The wild guppies are those that people have thrown into long kang etc and They breed among themselves. Some have turned out to be pretty nice.

Thanks for your explanation.

Idont belief that is true... wild guppies have been around for a long time. If malaysia has wild guppies, then Singapore has too...

gregnng 21-09-2014 01:48 AM

gregnng 21-09-2014 01:57 AM
