Change water after feeding or wait.

Hi all senior

When is the appropriate time to cw? Straight after feeding or wait 2-3 hours until Aro pop? I normally change after 1-2 hour as I heard if change straight after feeding will upset the Aro digestion. Is it true? Some Aro breeder said best is wait for one day after feeding then cw already don't feed for 1 day next day then feed. Got so many pattern! What is your theory?

I would change before feeding. :)

The main issue is the induced stress during WC. Some fishes may puke or bloat.

For me, I prefer WC few hrs or the next day after feeding to remove oil etc.. fm the water.

:D bro, i wc daily before feeding. Feeding commences 2 hrs after wc.

No issue to the aro.

I have 3 aros in separate tanks.

Aro77 30-09-2017 08:46 PM

i feed my fishes daily, once a day. the day that i water change , i will just skip the feeding and resume back with normal routine the following day.

I usually space at least 12 hours between water change and feeding sessions.

Sometimes dont feed on water changing days.

On water change day I feed early morning. Change water in afternoon then no more feeding till next day.

Coz my WC is once in a long time.. (ok la. my tank pretty empty now) and I do massive WC each time.

Usually Wc day = no food day since the fishes will take the chance to poop ALOT suddenly (Kind of like - Weee... fresh water to poop in!)

I don't feed on the day of water change, just a day they will not die

Arosub 09-10-2017 10:24 AM

I feed before WC. Usually an hour after feeding , so far so good.

Many of the hobbyist practise no feeding on WC day. May I know the reason for this?

:D my take: to minimise stress for fish in the tank.

Coz wan to enjoy 1 day of shiokness when u look at a super clean tank....:p

LauLanChu 11-10-2017 03:27 PM

Feed before water change, fish will soil the water, effort wasted.

Feed after water change, fish usually a bit stress due to water change and thus not advisable to feed.

So no feeding for the whole day.

WC usually causes some stress to Aro due to change of water conditions, fishes need some adjustment with the change, usually it won't eat till they get use to the new water condition. Hence, many hobbyist practice no feeding for those hours depending on individual observation and preference. If the fish don't eat, and food don't remove, it will contaminate the water, thus, wasted the effort.

Personally, I practice no feed on the WC day, since I have tested the Aro by feeding it after 2 hours, it just swim away. Hope this information helps!
