Resun MD55 uses the high pressure closed impeller design. This pump is powerful for high pressure usage

Resun MD series pump are known to have bearing problems. The bearings jammed, overheated and will trigger the pump internal thermal protection. Listen for a high pitch for a quick check, most of the pumps failed not long after emitting a high pitch sound.

I do not have a wattmeter with me but I'm rather suspicous of the 130watts rating given by resun. The increased in electrical costs does not tally with the theoritical calculations.

The pump is very hot in operation! Fortunately, the impeller and water is isolated from the magnet thus reducing heat transfer.

This pump is a cheap alternative to the expensive Iwaki pump. If you dont mind the heat and higher electrical bills, this pump should be suitable for most beckett skimmers.

What is the equivalent model of Resun MD55 for Iwaki? Is the wattage difference but a lot?

iwaki MD55, wattage is similar but with higher performance.

The price is very much higher too.:p

hi,
for a pressure rated pump, power consumption is dependent on the pressure that it is working against. if you are using it against gravity as a return pump or against resistance for a beckett, 130W would not be the rating.

My understanding and experiment shows that the higher the pressure, the lower the wattage.
