Hope to see it too! But maybe a bit difficult because working. Also, heard they are terrible parents and many advise stripping once in male's mouth.

Happy to spot it!

Thanks for the advice bud! Ok - so the bigger one is the male, wasn't too sure on that - will keep a lookout for the female then. I actually tried to net them out of the tank but they kept hiding in the rocks. The fries (if any) will probably have no chance of survival given I have comps and calvus in the tank!

Personally, just for experience, can let male hold 1 or 2days before stripping. Cos my male die mystically after spawning, I miss the chance to experience it. Female hold for 14/15 days before I strip it:o

actually it is up to you when to strip the fish. some like to strip eggs out, some wait till wrigglers, or some wait for free swimming fries.

Hahaha. ...Welcome to the dark side!
Most important its a confirmed pair...as long the environment permits.. sooner or later will successfully spawn.
In general male is larger then female, of cos there's always a rare chance big female & smaller male formed a pair. For my case, it happened both my full grown m/f are the same size. Once the female start to hold, think u should able to differentiate them:o

Hey bud, what I meant is from the mating dance in the video can and able to identify YOUR male is that bigger one la. The mating dance is obvious lo...the male entice, the female go for the vent most often. Hope I cleared all confusions. :)

P/S: Tangs_rule male is bigger, Wildbear & YM female is slightly bigger. IMO it's because all are still at their juvenile stage but once their growth is fully matured, I'm sure the male would be slightly bigger than female or almost same size.

dont need to be confused. listen to all experiences shared. and then observe and compare against your own. that's where it becomes your own experiences and it is your knowledge to keep. to be share in future with others as well :)
