I can never get pics of my pig 'flying'
They are just too lazy :o

Schmike 29-11-2010 10:01 PM

one of these day i try on shelly. :D

blondmyth 30-11-2010 10:10 AM

schmike: feeding once a week sounds a bit to extreme, like starving the poor pnt like that.

Elindra: how often do u feed urs now?

Schmike 30-11-2010 10:16 AM

turtles r the same as fish. they can go without food for a long time n its not necessary to feed them all the time.

blondmyth 30-11-2010 10:24 AM

so for large pnts, whats the ideal feeding routine like? used to feed every day when it was younger, now no more daily feeding as it produces just too much waste?

mictok 30-11-2010 02:36 PM

MY PNT,approx 1 ft long.Currently house at a 3x1.5x1.5 tank, looking for a bigger tank, any suggestion to house at FGT for glass tank for better growth?

i dont think there is any standard rule on feeding regime. u can feed them all the time but they may not eat all the time. :)

personally, i will prefer to keep them in a tank to see them "fly". that is the beauty of these creatures.

for 1 PNT, a 6x2.5x2.5 shld b able to last for quite a few yrs.

mictok 30-11-2010 04:47 PM

my balcony should be able to house a 5ft tank oni.
This piggy has not eaten since I brought it home last Wed,any advice on the possible diet?I had tried dry pellet and mp.

shagy382 30-11-2010 04:51 PM

try fruits like grapes, kiwi, banana or apple or vege like kang kong or watercress.

if not u can also try hikari algae wafers.

Then it was like alternate days
Now once a week. He don't seem very hungry these days plus he lets me know if he is hungry

Schmike 01-12-2010 12:48 AM

LOL :p Maybe they evolved in my tank. Haha
Their behaviour is very different from yours.

My Piggys are very lazy de. They won't swim up to eat floating pellets.

Actually I think that could be the reason why yours like to 'fly' whereas mine crawls on the ground

Schmike 01-12-2010 12:54 AM

thats why they so fat. :p

Schmike 01-12-2010 12:56 AM

Pray tell how can I force them to exercise -_-"
In my tank the food fed are all sinking pellets and if I don't drop the Algae wafers they will eat the Carni pellets

Elindra 01-12-2010 01:09 AM

Shelly still not so bad
Piggy have actually mastered his 'crawl' that he only moves around with his 2 front flippers -_-"

mictok 01-12-2010 08:45 AM

It finally start to eat algae wafer but oni do it after lights off.
How to identify male or female?

Good luck on ur search. Had to rehome my pnt to a 4 by 2 by 1 tub so that the mbu could take over its tank. If only the two of them got along, but my pnt insisted on taking a bite out of my mbu..

blondmyth 01-12-2010 09:42 AM

How to identify male or female?

by looking at the plastron n tail. but not 100% accurate. the most accurate method is when the males show their organ.

mictok 02-12-2010 10:06 AM

My piggy kana cloudy eye,add some epsom salt and do water change.Any suggestion on the treatment.

Schmike 02-12-2010 11:08 AM

epsom salt is a form of muscle relaxant. it is used to treat constipation or internal parasites in fishes.

cloudy eye is usualy due to poor water condition or injury. just maintain gd water parameters n it will heal by itself.

if u want to add salt, u can add coarse aquarium salt.

Elindra 02-12-2010 11:53 AM

and u can also add some yellow powder to reduce risk of infection

mictok 02-12-2010 02:55 PM

Will do,thanks for the advice.:D
