Barbel Missing and Front Jaw Swollen

Hi my arowana has not been eating for about 2 weeks.

And I just realised its barbel were missing. The front part of the lower jaw is swollen or looked infected. Any advice?

Thanks.

Any thought?

bro this might be due to bad water quality.
whats you water parameters? :)

Did not check the water parameters and my guess is water quality too.

Was away for two weeks and have gotten my family to feed. Maybe fed too much.

Did a 40% water change.

Anything else I can do?

Bro, do download a clip on your aro.

Bro,

did your aro bang into something ?

How big is your aro now ?

Arowana is about 20" I guess. Housed in a 6 feet sumped tank with 2 rays.

Bro, like what bro home said, probably your aro might have hit itself hard. Thus, the damage.

Btw, does it still feed or what?

It has not been eating for about 2 weeks. Still active and swimming around though.

Leave it as it is but try feeding it little bit of food each day until it starts eating

Do you normally leave some lights on at night in the tank, and if so did your family turn it off at night while you were away?

I had the same issue with my red. Always left one tube on at night then one day I decided to switch it off. Next day woke up to find both barbels gone and some injury to the lip. So I suspected at night with all the the lights my aro was not used to it and dashed around and rubbed its mouth on the tank walls resulting the injury.

My aros mouth and barbels healed up fine after a month or two.

I do not leave the lights on when I sleep.

The arowana is still not eating.
