Unless Malaysia can convince the bumis and rural folks it's never about Chinese taking over the country or see the Chinese as a threat, then maybe have chance to overthrow BN. Even their opposition coalitions PKR also not United and every party have their own issues due to religion, now anwar in jail.. It's even worst.
Actually many Chinese secretly hoping Umno stay in power but Chang of PM and current cabinet, if PAS take over it might even be worst.

Umno’s Saifuddin Abdullah to join PKR

Former deputy higher education minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah will be leaving Umno and joining PKR tomorrow.

He will be unveiled as a PKR member at a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya at noon tomorrow, The Malaysian Insider has learnt.

Saifuddin, a former Temerloh MP, was recently served a show cause letter by Umno for attending the roundtable discussion that led to the formation of the new opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan.

"Yes, he is joining us," a senior party leader told The Malaysian Insider on the condition of anonymity.

The Malaysian Insider has called and texted Saifuddin to verify the news but there is no reply as of press time.

Opposition leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is to announce Saifuddin's membership at the party's headquarters at noon tomorrow.

The party also issued a notice to the media tonight calling for coverage of a press conference at the same time tomorrow, where new members from Umno would be unveiled.

Party sources said Saifuddin is expected to play a prominent role in the newly-formed opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan.

The Malaysian Insider understands that plans are afoot to appoint the former deputy minister as executive secretary to the three-party pact, that also includes DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

This, however, is subject to endorsement from the other two coalition partners.

Saifuddin, 54, who is a former Umno supreme council member, was appointed as deputy minister under Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration.

He was one of Umno's more progressive leaders, with his views often putting him at odds with his more hardline colleagues.

Despite his popularity with urban Malaysians, he lost his seat at the 2013 general election to PAS's Nasrudin Hassan.

After his loss, he was more active in civil society work, giving talks and attending forums by virtue of his position as the CEO of Global Movement of Moderates (GMM) Foundation as well as heading Akademi Belia.

After Umno had given him a show cause letter for attending the September 22 roundtable discussion involving opposition parties, Saifuddin had shrugged off the warning, saying there was no harm in attending such an event, especially in representing GMM.

His reply to the show cause letter questioning Umno's actions prompted party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to call Saifuddin "crazy". – October 14, 2015

If that's the case is like change soup no change ingredients. BN by another name will not help improve Malaysia.

You could be right.

Than again, if they switch camps, the leadership of the Opposition parties won't be changed to ex-UMNO unless the person shows their value and work up the ranks.

Thus, if there are enough switching sides, BN will be weaken significantly. This can cause the BN to loose ground in next GE. Politics, can't really tell till it happens. All kway teow seller will say their kway teow is nice.

Saifuddin: I’m attracted to multi-racial model of PKR

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah (pic) says that he joined PKR because he feels that he does not fit in with Umno and Barisan National.

Saifuddin said that he was attracted by PKR's multi-racial model, unlike that of BN, which he claimed practised communal politics.

He said other parties had approached him as well but his heart was with PKR.

"I consider this a big decision for a small person such as myself," he told a packed press conference at the PKR headquarters on Thursday.

He also said that he would tender his resignation as the CEO of Global Movement of Moderation (GMM) when its chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail returned from overseas.

Saifuddin, a former deputy minister, was recently issued a show-cause letter by Umno for attending a roundtable discussion of the Opposition parties at Empire Hotel in Subang on Sept 21.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Saifuddin’s motives for attending the meeting, which led to the formation of Pakatan Harapan, were questionable even though he was there in his capacity as an NGO leader.

In the 2013 general election, Saifuddin lost his Temerloh parliamentary seat to PAS.

He also lost his place on the Umno Supreme Council in the party elections the same year.

Comparing his reason, to that of what najib said about the racial disharmony being temporary, I have more faith in Saifuddin's intention.

Malaysia shd stop playing racial and religious cards. They are just denting themselves on the global stage and causing discontent internally, which will be very damaging on the long run.

Looking at Indonesia during the fall of Suharto, till now, I don't think the ethic chinese feels at ease. There are many M'sia Chinese that also felt the same for the longest time.
