Could be the great media working fine. Marine pure media. Will definitely consider using that very soon.

IMO ap1 nitrate test kit cannot make it.. My old tank used to show 0 nitrates and it was very heavy bio load tank...

Get another test kit for nitrate perhaps sea chem.

Nice setup. I think is time to put rays or bottom fishes to fill up yrs bottom level of tank.
