The Great Mahseer Journal
Dear Folks,
Starting a new thread here on Mahseers. I intent to make this a little different from the usual thread by doing my best to keep an online journal with updates + photos regularly. Some interesting items in this journal in the forseeable future includes; 1) Posting of growth rate and observations of mahseers and fellow tankmates 2) New tank setup and migration of fishes from old to new and bigger tank and all the challenges associated with an all fish setup (advice will be helpful) 3) New tankmates compatibilty report - with our beloved Aro of course. 4) And finally - of course photos to show the results and observations. Let the show begin! |

4. Golden Mahseer - sp. Tor Putitora
Attachment 221647 Golden has seen amazing growth rate fed with Hikari Tropical and Hikari Cichlid Feed. 2 weeks growing approximately 3/4 of an inch with 2 to 3 times daily feed. Hope growth is on schedule to migrate to bigger tank with the remaining shoal. |
What's the difference between a Kelah and a Mahseer?

In my own research time, i found Mahseer to be specifically directing to the species found in India waters (Himalayan). Those are where these fish got famous first - with anglers before we caught up. 3 times - Weekends 2 times - Weekday Alternative - buy auto feeder lor. |
Would growth be better if you feed shredded MP and BW?
Your humpbacked blue is nice looking, where to find them?:p |

Humpback is known as green kelah in our LFS. Many 2 - 6 inches are available almost everywhere and they grow fast. If you have a chance, go grap a bigger size one with a broader body. It looks good when it's fat fat. |

Nice blue kelahs. |
Do take more pics of your red finned Mahseer. Are they the same as red kelah, the Malaysian fish? Beginning to like this fish more and more. :p

If possible go get the northern red. It should have brighter fins and body. This one have very deep dark red hence not able to show the prominent red as clearly as the northern species i believe. Welcome to the Great Mahseer Journal or should i say Journey! Attachment 221700 |
