Anyone knows what filter media is this???
 
Bought a 2nd hand canister filter...
Brand is Atman...seller say this media come with this canister..
But it seems like those Fake plants pebbles or stone...cause I tried breaking it open and it's black color things inside.
Can any one enlighten me by providing some info???

Looks like those expanded clay pellets commonly sold in terrestrial plant nurseries.

Yes, they are LECA as mentioned at the above reply. They are quite light and sometimes they float. I believe they are relatively good for biological filtration medium as they have good spores for the good bacterias home.

Hi ... If you are using for marine do change them to phosphate remover or some of the activated carbon .. Works better

Looks like volcano stones to me. Though it look like the terrestrial plant nurseries as wad ronwill said. But if it's for filtration I suppose that's volcano stones,.

I think they are synthetic clay pellets similar to ehiem, but not as effective as eheim ones.

So have u tried them? Do they work for bio filtration?

I have throw away mine.. I think they are not so effective.. change to normal CR better..

oso if you are using it in marine, better to put in PO4 removal media, or you might get algae , unless yours is FOWLR
