Can i keep two young arowanas in one tank?
i got a green arowana as a gift from my boyfriend, now my aunt got me a RTG which will arrive in a week. my green aro is about 5" and im hoping that the RTG would be just about the same size.. I have two 75gal tanks 1 has my green aro in it and the other has a 16" aligator gar. i wouldnt want to put one of the aros with the gar cause for sure it would end up being a snack. so i was wondering if i could keep both arowanas in one tank?

That's so sweet of your boyfriend. ;)
You might want to ask your aunt for the length of her RTG. In any case, it is not advisable to keep two arowanas together. You can buy three more arowanas (e.g. silver arowanas) and keep the five of them together. :) |

You are right. A 75 gallon tank is too small for one arowana, let alone five.
May I propose that your boyfriend gives you a 120 gallon tank too? :p |
Hi,
I do not recommend Green Aro with other arowana. if u would have no choice, u have to get the same size aro ,bigger RTG or sell away ur green aro cos green tends to be very fierce. My previous green attack my G2 aro till death. |
currently i house my rtg abt 8 inch + 2 green aro 4 inch and 5 inch ..they are very friendly...in 2ft x1.5..bigger aro will not whack smaller aro...my2cent ..bigger Tiger will eat smaller aro
make sure enough food for them |
IMHO, best is to seperate them. :)

Put 2 aros in one tank means you want to do a comm. For 2 pc comm the success rate is low and its all depend on individual luck.
You don't try and you will never know the result.....wish you good luck for a peaceful comm. |
Sis, not advisable to hv a 2 aro comm esp in a restricted environment. High chances fights will occur resulting in injuries or even death.
