This is the last piece of equipment which will complete the equipment equation for the 3rd 6ft tank.

Here is the box with all the fragile stickers as one of the check-in baggage:

This Nitratefilter 100 is a biological filgter which can be used in or out-of-sump with the reactor volume capacity of about 2 litres of either sulphur or siporax media for colonization of bacteria to transform nirate into nitrogen.

Opted for the sulphur beads instead of siporax as the sulphur bead is both a nutrient and substrate in one.

The filter comes with a Eheim 1250 28W pump and it also requires a feed-pump to draw aquaria water to the reactor.

b) Suphur Bead
c) Feeding pump

Now need a few slices of bread from you ... :)

Dun like that lah , back to the topic. Will this affect the PH of the tank cos the output should be very low in PH.:p

Definitely it will lowers the pH in the tank but with increasing the CR drip rate by 2 to 1 of the sulphur nitrate filter, you can maintain the tank pH.

Must update the result once it start running

I notice that this reactor does not come with coral sand/chip for pH buffering. It means that the effluent output will be highly acidic. How to resolve this?

iori_del 25-11-2005 09:33 AM

Woh tat very chio, at $600, hmm why dun u consider the H&S from sealife at $600 too..

How abt the aquamedic which monster say it is half the price??

Pls advise on how to come to get this set???

This product is suitable for those who has already a CR in operation and you can neutralize the acidic output (lowering the pH) with those drips from the CR.

nim75sg 25-11-2005 12:05 PM

Here are my understandings:

H&S need frequent maintenance as the carbonate tends to deplete much faster than the sulphur bead. Also, H&S is ideal for those without a CR.

The Aquamedic SR400 is ideal for the tanks not exceeding 400l but understand that they are coming out a unit supporting greater than this capacity.

However, you can modify or DIY a NR1000 or CR1000 to a sulphur nitratefilter "SR1000" supporting up to 1000 litres if so requires. ;)

Pls advise on how to come to get this set???

You can buy this in Hong Kong.

Can only start its operation on Dec 26 as it takes one careful month of monitoring due to current travel schedules. :(

Will update everyone here.

if i use this unit in freshwater will the PH drop still be a problem

nim75sg 08-01-2006 11:24 AM

Yes .. it can be done but use Siporax instead of sulphur fillings as the media. ;)
