I'm not sure either but I have been raising them for over a year already. This seahorse changes colour once in a while and it's quite enjoyable to see that. I will attach some pictures when it is red and orange at times.

Yes, I've tried every means but failed each time. They don't survive for more than a week.

brother im not a expert but im willing to share how i maintain my seahorse tank , i change 25% of my water every month because regardless of filtration if regular water not changed , the level of harmful nitrogenous compounds will increase and the water ph's , buffering capacity and trace element content will decrease , food passes through rapidly and is often excreted in a partially digested state, partly as a result of the anatomic arrangement , seahorses must consume huge amount of food so you need to train them to eat frozen food , hope this will help you :p

Thanks for sharing, I think seahorses are so cute :)

Crazy Dragon 18-10-2011 11:20 PM

Reading the experience from all the bros who posted in this forum, seem like not easy to keep seahorses alive even for few weeks. Must seriously consider if I intend to go into seahorse. Thank you all for sharing.

motoro_freak 19-10-2011 11:51 AM

yup bro not easy unless u buy a CB seahorse all those wild caught ones will die within weeks or of starvation

marine_lover 19-10-2011 11:56 AM

I have 2 wild catch tigertail from Sentosa beach 1 months ago...so far all feeding with frozen mysis.

Recently just bought 2 CB Kuda from CF added to my Seahorse family...:D !

potbelly needs chiller rite:confused: reidi seahorses can get from ahbeng aquarium:)

dkk08 20-10-2011 02:26 AM

Pot belly only came in 3-4 years ago... whereas Reidi is not commonly found and even if they are being sold, its $200-$350 per seahorse, I've kept Brazilian red and orange reidi some years back, that was when pot belly was imported as well, along with the Zos (Dwarf Seahorse)...

Nowadays, ah beng only have wild caught Tigertails and Kudas...

I currently have 2 Zebra, 1 Kuda, 1 Tigertail all feeding on frozen mysis and my own blended food...
