APP, blyxa japonica, red tiger lotus, bolbitis at the right, some crypto, nana 'petite'. Might need to add more background plant.

now we wait... :)

kencfk 11-09-2012 10:56 PM

Think you can improve with a bit more foreground plants either planted in soil or on rocks with some background plants to complete the aquascaping. Overall, gd effort!

Eilsel89 12-09-2012 04:38 PM

Some rocks can help to further beautify the scape

I think once your blyxas bloom up, the left side will look very green green loh. Nice! Does Blyxa need high lighting to do well.

yup, that's the plan, it will be playground for the fishes :)
blyxa need mid to high light + co2 n fert to do well, low light it will 'float' but give more 3D view for the scape, u can see my other thread, blyxa at the back looked taller. because it float...

not really bro. i used to keep blyxa in low tech tank, 2plus WPG with no CO2, they grow really well.

Potential scape. Good job. Simple scape but look natural. It would be great when mature. Looking forward;)

hmmm, may be my soil (>2years) not enough fert ? never use root fert, only dose liquid fert. thx for the info anyway. will monitor in this setup.

Lesson learnt: Cloudy water

Got hit by cloudy water pass few weeks...
Tried many things... and finally water is clear after install uv light.
My APP started to bubbles.
Now left brown hair algae on driftwood and moss, hope Yamato, otto and goby will do their job.

UV light with diy PVC tube mounted on water outlet.
Turn on for 4-6hrs daily, lights off.

Thx bro.
I'm using 1 canister filter, weekly 20-30% wc.

Loudness 11-12-2012 11:52 PM

Jon-san 12-12-2012 12:25 AM

Nicely blooming out finally! Mine sharing some close-ups of the setup? Interested in your Blyxa growth. Mine does't seem to bloom up fast.

The AAs are my collections*from 2011/2012 batches. Mostly are 2.5-3inches, *2 biggest ones are 3.5-4inches body size. Glad that their fins still good.*

Actually the plans grow relatively slow except the red tiger lotus... I've stop fert dosing for 2 weeks due to the bba outbreak recently... The blyxa dunno why all it's tip are cut/nipped off, may be due to lack of fert...

Jon-san 12-12-2012 11:41 PM

You have yamatos inside?

Re-insert picture.

Jon-san 15-12-2012 12:52 PM

I'm taking a wild shot-in-the-dark guess here, and pinpointing your Yamatos aa the culprits... Lol... That's what they did to my JHG, but in my case, they trimmed them down to the soil level.

chong99 18-12-2012 01:04 AM

Thx bro. I doubt Yamato will go to bottom as AAs are roaming around... My suspect is lack of fert. Will slowly resume fert dosing and see how it goes. Hope the bba will be under control. :o

chong99 27-06-2013 10:33 PM

guys, first i see algae pearling... result of full blast of co2 , normal?

http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/...ps700ee6b8.jpg

http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/...ps51f27f60.jpg

should i keep or remove? :o

Jon-san 27-06-2013 11:10 PM

I have 3 cups of algae-infested christmas moss on my balcony, kept in those cups we get from buying plants for LFS. All 3 are also bubbling after a whole day in the sun. The thing is, the bubbles never seem to break from the algae, unlike the normal aquatic plant pearling effect. The algae is cultivated for my shrimp tank... :p

chong99 28-06-2013 10:58 AM

For my case, no chance to deploy shrimp troop leh :(
Help....

medusa 09-08-2013 06:16 PM

wah.. what a difference after the cloudy water phase.. tanks looks very nice..

chong99 14-02-2014 01:55 AM

After long long wait... my tank finally back onto right track.

Happy CNY!!!
