Why are so many people giving up their oscars?

Hi guys, I've read many threads in this forums and I noticed that many brothers and sisters out there are giving away free oscars or are giving them away at a nominal price.

I just bought two baby tiger oscars that are about 1.5 inches because I wanted to try them out as I've never kept oscars in my 10 years of fishkeeping.

I'm interested to know the pros and cons of keeping oscars. I'm very surprised to discover that there are so many people giving away them. Can guys out there who have experience with oscars tell me why so many people away?

Personally, I think they're lovely and they make good 'pet fish'.

I have two ft tank now. They're only 1.5 inches now so there;s going to be lots of space for at least 6 months. I tell you, these tiger oscars r the most beautiful I've ever seen. Must be from good genes.:)

Pros: They never leave their feeders alive.
They are easy to keep.
They eat anything that moves my experience when i kept them, i was 8 yr old that year.

Cons: Dun put your fingers inside.
They Foul up water quite fast.
They eat a lot as they grow bigger, more money on food.
Give them larger tank as they grow very fast.

think most do not know that they can grow to be so big.
a lot of times it is becos of space problem.
they always look "cute" when young, but when they r big, they are aggressive towards other tankmates, so 1 big tank with 1 fish = sayang.
one of the more common reason why people give them up even though they are still very nice at adult stage.
imho.
