Hi,

By placing it at the last compartment it will be much cleaner in the filter itself as i understand that most of us will have wool or other machnical media that is being placed in the first compartment that will first trapped most of the debris and waste or even fine particles from the main tank.

Therefore is will be advisable to place it at the last compartment to prolong the maintenance of Hydra filter from cleaning the prefilter or the impeller. :)

I will say yes and no as we have to observe the flow rate and the head lost when using it as a return pump. As Hydra filter when first being design, it was design to be use as an internal filter which might have compromise the height max.

Therefore if it is being use as an return pump, it might not have a effective return flow rate compare to a submersible pump which is design to do the job.

Thanks for your prompt response. May I know is there a lifespan of this filter or how we know when we need to replace any parts?

Qian Hu 27-10-2011 02:34 PM

Hi, the life span of the cata pure media is approximately 12 months. It is advisable to change it once the time frame is up. :)

Zhuoyuting 27-10-2011 10:58 PM

Don't think can right cause your hydra filter got discharge 5mA of current to activate the cata pure media am i right to say that ?

Hoping QH can share heads up on plans for a larger capacity unit eg specifics on actual capacity and product release timeframe. It will be a very compelling purchase for hobbyists with larger tanks and comm set up etc.

Thumbs up for the innovation !

jawatengah 07-11-2011 01:08 PM

For this filter got to careful as I brought 2 of this last month at Aqua Star at Yishun. The first one I brought works fine but the second I got produce heat that make the water temperature rise up to 32-34degree which kills most of my fish.

I brought it down to the yishun Aqua star on 23/11/11 as they stated item to be exchange within 3 days but I brought it down the second day they did not change it for me and told me that they will send it for repair but till now it is still in the shop.

So anyone buying this please kindly check before you try as from what the shop said if you tried you can't change. But if you do not try how you know the problem. So disappointed with this product.

emerson_chew 09-12-2011 04:45 AM

And do not use it in a tank which is less the 3ft.
And got to monitor it when you place it in. If there is a sudden rise in your water temperature, got to faster take it out from your tank or you will end up like me lost my fishes.

EvolutionZ 10-12-2011 01:35 AM

seems like qian hu need to explain on this... still intended to buy this as additional filter for my 422..

EvolutionZ 12-12-2011 01:13 AM

jello 12-12-2011 01:22 AM

i bought one from polyart last week.

it has been running in my 2x1.5x1.5 tank for the past week.

initially i had an aro in there, ammonia level was 2.0

i transferred the aro to my FGT, so tank was fishless and i left the filter running.

tested it today, 4 days later.

ammonia level still 2.0

same colour on the colour chart.:(

emerson_chew 13-12-2011 01:26 AM

But to play safe buy from qian hu safer cos their after sales customer service is very good.

widjajas 30-12-2011 08:30 AM

star 22-02-2012 12:46 PM

Kisuke 08-04-2012 06:29 PM

I juz got this as well. Btw, it also adds oxygen into the tank via the small tube? How much oxygen does it add in?

Why need to turn it off when intro medication?
Tks.

Kisuke 08-04-2012 06:30 PM

I hope the future models have longer power cords because this one is juzz long enough for my current tank and i will be upgrading to a bigger tank soon.

Hi, may i ask if the hydra 40 is coming out any time?.
For bros that used it, any reviews about it?.. the levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, did it decrease?.. and for the hydra 30, will it be underpowered for a 422 tank?.

arocomm 09-05-2012 06:43 PM

Hi,

just like to check when the replacement cartridge will be out cause i have enquire a few time at your counter but is still not available till now.

Qian Hu 10-05-2012 06:16 PM

Hi,

Thanks for those that are interested in Hydra 40. We hope to release it this year however there are some changes that are being make and yet to come to a conclusion. We are sorry for the delay and keeps you waiting.

As for the replacement Cata Pure, it is releasing soon in the market maybe in another 1 or 2 months time as we do understand that it is time for Hobbyist to change the media especially for those that had bought it during the launched in 2011 Aquarama.

Once again, thanks for support. :)

nicolas 17-05-2012 09:46 PM

it will be the best if able to support the high bio-load .

Hi, we are planning it to be release in Singapore by this year end. Hydra 40 will be having a preview launch in this coming CIPS in Beijing on 1st November 2012 together with some new products. I will take some photo of it and post it up here. :)

Lex 30-10-2012 12:16 PM

Great! Been using the hydra 30 in my 422 as a supplement filter and water conditions have been fantastic(nitrates still high at the moment but reducing steadily over the weeks.. appetite of fish is where the improvement can really be seen, looking forward to the 40 as my tank is heavily stocked and not over filtered, .......yet:D

Let us know when first orders are available bro.. cheers.

Qian Hu 30-10-2012 12:17 PM

Hi, Sharing with all some photo taken using Hydra 30 Filter to keep Altum Angel. This few pieces of Altum angle are not stable when it arrived. They are of different batches thats why you can see the difference in sizes.

We separate them out and place it another quanrantine tank using Hydra 30 Filter. And to our surprise, they starts to stable down and the water Ph is around 6. Since then, they are happily living for nearly 2 months plus. Sorry for the lousy resolution as they are being taken with handphone.

Hi, one quick question, does this affect the GH in any way? I have a very high GH reading after usage that does not seem to go down, it could be other things, just trying to narrow down and see if it's a created situation or if my tank needs mores work, thanks in advance..:)
