Not safe to take from the wild, especially canals. Unless you want parasites and unwanted stuff in your tank. Apple snails very cheap only not worth the risk.

Just a tip for anyone thinking of going bare bottom. You can paste white oyama paper on the tank bottom to simulate sand, so you dont see the ugly base.
