Understand your dilema. Perhaps you can get a 2 tier tank like some bros suggested.

Or try keeping gold fish in a separate smaller tank for a start. Of cos with smaller tank you can't keep many....

I think it is generally more difficult to keep gold fish (at least for me) compared to aro. I have kept both...
