i have both set up. IMHO setup 1, your waste cannot be too much, as too much shit will clog up the filter. Whereas from setup 2 they can take shit better. as you can change the wool more regularly.

need find alternatives to lower my feeding cost. 1 week ard 2kg of MP. (ard 12/kg) minus the head and shell, left ard 1.5kg and that cost me 24bucks a week.

your pond i think u need work on the water circulation and the water turn around. Having a Hiblow 20 and a 10,000L/ hr water flow rate will definitely help improve the quality of water.

Alternatively upgrade to a bigger tank and sump. Bigger water volume and more efficient filter. Base on water parameter u could potentially WC 1x a week. less work.
