Decided to get enough ehiem 2260 canister to add on more media for filtration. Intend to pump water from last compartment of sump thru e canister before returning back to e last compartment of sump...

Water entering into sump is from the surface of the tank. I noticed base of tank is filled with waste matters. How do I ensure this does not happen? Can a wave maker help?
