I am keeping 8 smaller african cichlids (mixture) but all juvenile size about 2-3 inches. I have seen some very nice colorful and larger cichlids 4-5 inches (not sure is malawi or vic or tangan)......

I guess gravel also not suitable for HC, fissiden etc...but i started off with the wrong foot, using nanas n java ferns..got a bit of green water algae..But i am so fond of heavy planted tank rather...

I read that soil will release excess nutrients especially initial use and might cause algae boom..so therefore we need to change water more often at start up. And the other thing is soil tend to lose...

I dose excel with my nanas once 2-3 days, but i notice tiny brown spots and rough on the leaves surface (cant wipe off).. I read articles said is due to shortage of CO2.. Anyone has this problem?
