Carry on your initial treatment and not stop it half way. I believe that parasites would not take over your fish to the point of death in 3 days. Have you tested your nitrite?

It will cause a drop in ph. May not be ideal for your fishes. You don't have to exactly drench the whole cloth with vinegar, just a little bit. Then just rub it on the parts that you want to remove...
