last time at Jurong my tap water also shoot to...

last time at Jurong my tap water also shoot to ph8 and above.
Once in the tank wif WC etc... it simply balances out to ph7.
my rays did pretty well too.

If worried can consider puttin Driftwood...

U try adding some water conditioner to the tap...

U try adding some water conditioner to the tap water and measuring the PH again.

By right it shd go bck to 7.
