Surely.. definitely cant compare the clarity with sand or gravel.

Set up both tanks at the same time. Same filter model, same batch of moss... both 2ft tank... See the diff... :D...

btw, anyone tried using undergravel filter with soil ?

No need to run it 24/7 as main filtration system for the tank but get it going say once every fortnight for short time just to get some...

Yes I am aware of that. And that can bring down...

Yes I am aware of that. And that can bring down the water pH etc.. for the water parameter part. However, that cannot replicate or come close to the natural habitat for the fishes to burrow...

I see. So practically the same as how we maintain gravel.

I am setting up an Asian peat swamp biotope. :D

Cant use aquarium peat as they dont really sink. So soil is the next best option.

Hi guys,

Normally we just siphon / stir the gravel or sand for typical tank set up to prevent trapped stuff or bad bacterial build up but how do you maintenance tank with Aquasoil say abt 1.5inch...
