Dreamfish Inc. would like to announce that, amidst the ongoing price war in the arowana industry, there will be NO price adjustments to our MerLion Arowana worldwide. It is Dreamfish’s policy not to participate in any price wars as we believe our fishes are already priced at their deserving values. Price wars will only undermine the quality standard and integrity of the arowana industry.
Dreamfish Inc. has meticulously classified our MerLion Arowana according to their true bloodline as we aim to be truthful in our selling and prevent any disappointing experience by hobbyist. At the same time, we have priced our fishes reasonably enough to make a decent profit to continue our dream in breeding the world’s best arowana.
We urge hobbyist to continue to support Singapore bred arowana. Why? Arowana breeding farms’ capital and operating costs in Singapore are at least three to five times higher than farms in Malaysia and Indonesia. Hence, in general, our breeders are conscientious in breeding only good quality arowana in order to be competitive and command a slightly higher premium than our neighboring countries. This is only logical. However, this premium does not necessarily match the difference in capital and operating costs. Buying Singapore bred arowana has its own merits in terms of quality vs price. In short, value for money.
Hobbyist should not be under the false impression that farm bred arowana from countries where asian arowana originated from are better than those from Singapore. Singapore has been the major hub in ornamental fish trading and the earliest country to trade in Asian Arowana, resulting in large quantities of arowana being imported. This has allowed Singapore to obtain many pure bloodline arowana during the early days which have passed down till today. Hence, Singapore bred arowana has its esteemed values as they started from a strong bloodline foundation.
