hmm i guess it is quite safe to sex them around 7cm, although u can probably do it earlier.
as long as u have a female should be okay..coz they dun pair up.

Its probably territorial fighting, fighting for dominance and the right to occupy 'prime space', mine do that all the time too!

thanks! hmm yea with tropheus it is always rather frustrating, once in a while some fish can picked on or one refuses to eat, must constantly be on the look out for such individuals.very stressful..................... and i have lost my fair share of tropheus which is really too many to count................
