i dont think there is any standard rule on feeding regime. u can feed them all the time but they may not eat all the time.

personally, i will prefer to keep them in a tank to see them "fly". that is the beauty of these creatures.
for 1 PNT, a 6x2.5x2.5 shld b able to last for quite a few yrs.
