i 2nd the tamron 90, its one of the legendary lenses. very sharp and good value for money. i sold mine off to buy a macro lens double the price and i still prefer the tamron in many ways.

i actually dont really like its auto focusing as it changes the barrel length so i usually use manual focusing. as bro ami already mentioned, should invest in a good flash, esp one that can remote...really depends on what you are taking also la. flash gives the highlights and reflections on the eyes which i don't like. but for some fast subjects, no choice.
