okay, based on instruction, it is a add on to RO unit, but diagram states clearly that DI unit before the RO ( so this DI is suppose to extend the lifespan of RO membrane, as with any conventional RO/DI units) , not the other way round.so I will measure the water prodn now in my notebk and see when it hits 3000gallons, which is really a wonderful investment.
