Ran the empty tank for more than a week before I bought this fella home.

First two days, it hides under the OHF away from the detachable LED lights.

Managed to feed it with pellets at Day 3.

Question 01
Not sure if it is normal that my silver is always on the water top, does not swim either to the middle or bottom of the tank.
Do I have to switch to sinkable pellet to lure it down?

Question 02
I have mixed pellets and dried shrimps + dried mealworms for the aro.
At 3.5 inch now, do I need to change to MP or live mealworms?

Thanks.
It is normal for a new young arowana to be hiding when first introduced into the tank. Good that the arowana, it means the arowana is getting comfortable with the new environment.

The 3 feet tank is not enough for a full grown silver arowana in the long run.

Arowanas are top dwellers, near the water surface is where they roam in the wild. Not unusual for arowana to leap out of the water surface to hunt food above.

Floating pellets are fine. You can also consider those floating pellets for arowanas, those are richer in proteins for carnivorous fishes.

Based on experience, arowana grow faster on MP diet, compared to pellets. However, some arowana stop accepting pellets after they start feeding on MP. This seem to be worse for mealworms or superworms.

For me, I feed my arowana primarily on floating arowana pellets, weekly treats of market prawns. no worms, no frogs, no feeder fishes.
