1. The paint will be covered with algae sooner or later. A black paint makes the algae less visible from the start.
2. Black makes the koi stand out more against the rest of the pond
If you plan on using epoxy paint, I recommend sourcing out Nippon Paint EA9 for primer and main coat. This paint is meat for use on potable water systems, and is completely non toxic after curing.
