If you untie it and plant one by one, you need the patience to slowly push those plantlets into the gravel. Like miniature glosso.

I think it'll be better to bury the rock in the substrate so that HC is exposed above the gravel.

Or, untie it but do not seperate the bunch and plant the bunch in the gravel by burying part of the bunch.

HC cannot have yamatos or cories or fauna that can disturb it from the gravel at the initial planting stage. Try to get submersed types instead of emersed ones, because the emersed type can take very long to convert.
