IMHO my first choice of filtration for a tanganyikan COMMUNITY tank (3ft & above) would be canister/s, mainly due to the fine sand u have that would get suck up should you use OHF or IOS. However if yr tank is 2ft and below, then a hang-on filter would suffice. And if its breeding or fry tank, sponge filter/s is good enough. Jo has a deep love for HMF filtration though but imo it just take away a portion of yr tank away and make your tank look smaller, that's if you don't mind and ofc if you have spare airpumps around.

Thanks for sharing! Was concerned about the fries but didn't know they will kick up sand as well. Will see if canisters can be done!
